Intermediate CSS & The Android Logo Design

Monday night (9/21) was rough! Again, I was dead tired after work and basically went through the Intermediate CSS course in a haze. Barely any of the information stuck as I was yawning and dozing off half the time.

Fast forward to tonight, I decided to not only go through the intermediate portion of the CSS tutorial, but I also went back to the beginner section as well. I'm glad I did, but a lot of this new information is starting to become slightly overwhelming. Not overwhelming in the fact that I can't wrap my head around the concept, but overwhelming in the fact that I feel like there are so many different ways to do one thing with all of this code.

I'm at the part of The Odin Project where I have to design the android logo using just HTML and CSS, and I'm thinking to myself that there is no way that I'd be able to do all of this without watching the video of someone else enter their code from scratch. I'm getting the feeling that I'm performing data entry rather than actual "coding".

Also, I stumbled upon FreeCodeCamp and it seems that more people like this curriculum as The Odin Project isn't getting a lot of updates because the owner is focusing his efforts on Viking Code School. I don't want to "Jump around" so I will stick to the Odin Project some more...

WebDev 101 - HTML & CSS Basics pt. 2

After a few nights off, I can say that I'm back at it. I completed HTML Dog's beginner's guide to HTML which went fairly smoothly because of some familiarity with the material from previous Odin Project lessons. The next step, which I will hopefully tackle tomorrow, is HTML Dog's beginner's guide to CSS tutorial. I've never delved into CSS, and to be honest, I have no idea what to expect.

I'm looking forward to the challenge! Goodnight Friends!

Out of it

The past two nights I've had networking events after work. By the time I get home my brain is fried. It's hard to concentrate when reading the course material because I'm really tired.

I couldn't really get into the material tonight, so instead of forcing it I'm going to call it a night. I promised Chrystyna that I would take her to Crocker Park tomorrow night and I am going to keep that promise. This will, however, result in another study-less night. I will make up for it this weekend in the library :)

Goodnight Friends.

WebDev 101 - HTML & CSS Basics

Today I completed the "HTML Basics" course from CodeAcademy.com via The Odin Project's curriculum. I feel like I already knew a lot of this stuff because I've used it before when creating Craigslist ads. This course was a good refresher and I learned how to insert images and link them to external sites.

I am currently writing this sentence in HTML using what I learned from today's course. I am proud of myself for embarking upon this journey of learning front end web development, and I plan to see it through until I feel comfortable enough to "go it alone" and do my first paid project as a freelancer. Check out the image below :)
